Historique :	L'association des amis du patrimoine historique et culturel de Lacougotte Cadoul a découvert en 2020 aux archives départementale un article qui date la chaire au XVIIe siècle. Des sources orales locales indiquent que la chaire proviendrait de la cathédrale Saint-Alain de Lavaur. Y a prêché Valentin Esprit Fléchier, grand orateur du 17ème siècle quand il fut évêque de Lavaur. Au moment de la Révolution française le dernier évêque de Lavaur, De Castellane, avant de s'enfuir, a cherché à protéger certains biens de la cathédrale. Il était ami avec la famille d'Armengo habitant le château de Bellaval à Lacougotte Cadoul.
